Edward Kennedy, Senator and Democratic Icon, Dies

Senetor Edward "Ted" Kennedy dies at 77 after a long battle with cancer. Kennedy died late yesterday at his home in Hyannis Port on Cape Cod. A malignant brain tumor was diagnosed in May 2008 and doctors operated on it the following month.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) was the last of an American political dynasty, alongside his brothers John and Robert. He served more than four decades in the Senate and led a life of triumph and tragedy.

The Chappaquiddick scandal was undoubtedly the darkest scandal in Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's life and one that most likely denied him the presidency, linked to the death of a young woman from Pennsylvania. Mary Jo Kopechne, a 28-year-old secretary, was leaving a party with Kennedy on July 18, 1969, when the senator drove his car off the side of a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts. Kopechne was found dead in the submerged car the next morning. Kennedy, unable to explain how he escaped the vehicle, did not report the incident to police until after Kopechne's body was discovered.

The senator's family announced his death Wednesday morning, stating "we've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives."

The senator spent his final 15 months working on his memoir, sailing and talking about his career's signature issue, health-care reform.

Edward M. Kennedy's final resting place will be close to the famed gravesites of his slain brothers at Arlington National Cemetery.

There goes the last of the Kennedy dynasty. Our prayers go out to the Kennedy family.

Home alone: Plano Teen and Baby Sister Hide as Burglars Break In

Home alone: Plano teen and younger sister hide in bathroom when two intruders break into their house.

The 13-year-old girl got her 6-year-old sister and hid in a locked bathroom. The young girl's heroic actions may have saved the lives of herself and her little sister. She immediately dialed 911 and stayed on the phone with the calm dispatcher until police came.

The young girl could be heard crying as she spoke barely above a whisper, but she stayed calm and did exactly what the dispatcher told her to do. The dispatcher contacted the young teen's father while he kept her calm.

The police arrived in time and chased the two men, Brandon Strait, 22, of Dallas, and Kevrin Nealond, 19, of Garland, who were accused of burglary and taken to a Plano jail.

Times are hard, yeah we know. But it's time to teach your children how to shoot a gun! These stupid criminals are getting bolder by the second. Shoot, who knows you or I could be next. I just hope I have the presence of mind to hide like that brave little girl...that is unless I can get to my gun first.

UFC 101:Boston Event Confirmed

UFC 101 Post Fight Press Conference: Confirms Boston Event. According to reports, UFC fans may be getting their long anticipated wish. Dana White has confirmed plans to hold an event at Boston, which may be at Fenway Park (home of the Boston Red Sox).

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. Dana White serves as the president of UFC, owned by casino-moguls Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta.

The UFC began as a single-event tournament in the early '90s, which sought out the world's best fighters, (with respect to the different styles, whether boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, karate, or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, among others). With limited rules, promoters marketed fighting in the UFC as "no holds barred" and contests were often violent and brutal.

The Boston event would be held sometime in 2010 if a recent bill approved by the State Senate gets signed into law by the end of 2009.

Today UFC has recently become one of mainstream media's most highly publicized and followed sport across the country and it's fan base has grown exponentially. And that's why I am writing this article! I'm on the band wagon now.

Vanessa Hudgens Leaked Photos Scandal: Naked Pictures a Publicity Stunt?

Vanessa Hudgens Leaked Photos Scandal:Vanessa Hudgen's Legal Representative Confirms Pictures Are Genuine.

High School Musical Star, Vanessa Hudgen's self-portraits posing naked in front of a mirror with only some gold tinsel covering her ta-ta's surfaced online yesterday.
No one seems to know how these photos that are causing the latest scandal appeared on the internet yet.

Hudgens made headlines in 2007 when naked and nearly-naked photos of her were leaked and published on various websites around the world. It was alleged that the photos were for her boyfriend, Zac Efron.

Outlets that posted the pictures have been contacted by Vanessa Hudgen's lawyers, who requested their removal on the grounds that the now 20-year-old actress/singer was underage at the time they were taken which by law is a federal offense for anyone posting them. Apparently it's considered child pornography because she was said to be 17 years old when they were taken.

Vanessa Hudgens' lawyers have been in contact with several websites, including Perez Hilton's website, demanding the "leaked" naked pictures of the 20-year-old star be removed from web.

All I can say is technology is a beast! If you are a celebrity and you don't know by now to keep your clothes on, even when showering, then expect to go viral. I think Ms. Hudgen's is trying to break out of her good-girl image and let the cat out. Good publicity though.

Money Saving Tips To Avoid Paying Airline Luggage Fees

As many of you know, the airline industry is one of among thousands of multi-billion dollar businesses that are constantly trying to find ways to make more money, keep the money they've made or just find a way to not pass the "buck" to us consumers.

I read an article by Christopher Elliott in Tribune Media Services today about ways to do just that. He says and I agree that the days of gate-checking carry-on luggage may be numbered.

Here are some tips that may assist you in your personal fight to pay the extra fees to the airlines for your luggage. Here are some Money Saving Tips To Avoid Paying Costly Airline Luggage Fees.

1. Check with hotels that actually offer credits to cover luggage fees
2. Check to see if your frequent flier status exempts you from bag fees
3. Bring less
4. Fly a no-fee airline

JetBlue Airways doesn't charge for the first checked bag. Neither does Southwest Airlines. In fact, it doesn't charge for a second bag, either. Both of these companies have acknowledged what the rest of us already know: People travel with at least one bag. Shouldn't we be rewarding these airlines with our business?

5. Get creative

Consolidate! Put your purse, laptop bag, and anything else you can into one or two slightly larger than barely legal bags they allow you to store in the overhead. It allows you to avoid paying the $15 fee.

6. Exploit policy differences

Airlines don't have uniform luggage rules so when you're flying on two or more airlines use that to your advantage. Consider what happened to Kristi Nelson when she flew from Oahu to Portland recently. A Hawaiian Air agent in Lihue asked if she wanted to check her bags all the way through to the mainland. "You bet I do," she said. "I thought for a minute and wondered how we would pay the baggage fee for our Northwest flight from Honolulu." But when she landed, no one bothered to charge her.

Paying extra fees for luggage is down right greed! We are already paying for the airfare and shouldn't our luggage be included?

Next the buses and trains will find a way to cash in on this ridiculous trumped up cost. I don't know about you, but I for one am getting sick and darn tired of it! It's time to fight back.
